Courage. Compassion. Change.
Telehealth refers to the delivery of healthcare via telecommunication channels such as telephone or videoconferencing (a live visual connection between two parties over the internet). Telehealth connects people who can’t attend, or prefer not to attend, in-person appointments, for example:
At Endeavour Psychology you can choose telephone or videoconference (Coviu) for telehealth psychologist sessions. Coviu is a healthcare videoconferencing platform developed by the CSIRO that meets HIPAA privacy and security standards to ensure confidentiality of your sessions. Coviu also allows sharing of screens and use of tools such as whiteboards during sessions.
You do not need a new Mental Health Treatment Plan for telehealth sessions. Medicare rebates are the same amount for telehealth online psychologist sessions as in-person sessions.
Research has found telehealth to be equally as effective as face-to-face treatment in building positive therapeutic relationships and achieving therapeutic outcomes (e.g., McCord et al., 2022*). Anecdotally, at Endeavour Psychology we have observed clients feeling less self-conscious and speaking more openly in telehealth sessions, which we attribute to you feeling safe and comfortable in your own space.
